There once was a girl named Radha. She lived in a beautiful castle in the jungles of India. Radha didn’t have many children her own age to play with, but she did have some amazing jungle friends. One day she went to her favorite play spot in the jungle where she met her friends, Haathi, Sher and Bandar. The four friends decided to play hide-and-seek together, Radha would be the seeker.
Radha closed her eyes and began counting ek, do, teen, chaar, panch…while she counted, Haathi, Sher and Bandar scampered off to find their hiding places…che, saath, aath, nau, das, ready or not here I come!
Radha began her search. She looked far and near and high and low but she didn’t see anything! Then all of a sudden she heard something…swoosh, swoosh, swoosh something was swooshing about above her head. She quickly looked up and saw Bandar swooshing by. “I found you,” she squealed, “now let’s go find the others!”
Radha and Bandar began their search for Haathi and Sher. The looked in front of them, behind them, to their left and to their right but they did not see anything. Then all of a sudden they heard something…crackle, crackle, crackle, something was crackling the leaves behind a bush. Radha and Bandar slowly walked to one side of the bush and our jumped Sher with a big ROAR! “We found you,” screamed Radha, “now we just have to find Haathi.”
Radha, Bandar and Sher began their search for Haathi. They wondered where such a big animal could hide. They looked over here, the looked over the there, but the time they were done they felt they had looked everywhere, but they didn’t see anything. Then all of a sudden they heard something…thump, thump, thump, something was thumping loudly down by the river. They ran over to see what it was and there they found Haathi thumping about and tooting his trunk. “We found you,” yelped Radha. “Now we are all together again!”
And the jungle friends all began thumping and swooshing and roaring and having a great time together, until all of a sudden they heard something…“Raaadha…time to come hooooome….diiiiiinner!” It was Radha’s mommy.
Radha thanked her jungle friends for a wonderful afternoon of fun and headed back home to tell her parents all about her fun game of hide-and-seek.
